Edible Necklaces

This could even be a fun way for your child to have breakfast in the morning if you make it the night before :)

A small container of fruit loops, string, and a pair of scissors is all you need. We did it on a towel since we do our projects on the floor so it is easier for Bug

Measure the string around your child's neck...making sure to leave enough room to slide the it over their head after they are done

Cut the string

On one end tie a fruit loop to make sure all the other fruit loops stay on the string :)

Have your child string the fruit loops on the string...

That stage was difficult for Bug so we resorted to me holding the string and she set the fruit loop on the string...

And then shake it until the fruit loop moves to the bottom of the string

After a little bit we got it and started to move at a pretty good pace :)

We got our necklace done (sorry its blurry she figured out it shakes)

We tied the other end of the necklace and TA DA! We have a necklace :)

AND SHE CAN EAT IT!! What's better then edible jewelry for a toddler??

Put what is left of the cereal away and your done :)

Shaving Cream Fun!

An empty shower and shaving cream is all you need for this one :)

Place your child in the tub and fill their hands with shaving cream...
If your child is stable enough leave their socks on their feet for later :]

Back away if you don't want to be covered in shaving cream as well :) Then tell your child to shake or wave their hands throwing shaving cream everywhere!

"Do what mommy?"

That may be your child's response being as typically we tell them NOT to get what is all over them everywhere else :)

She flung shaving cream EVERYWHERE....we had it 3 feet outside of the tub :)

Once the floor of the tub gets shaving cream on it show them (with your help for safety) that they can slip and slide

Once your child has had enough....

Simply strip your child while they are in the bath tub and throw their clothes in the wash then take the shower head and rinse out the bath tub. If any gets outside the tub take a dry towel to wipe it off.

[If your child has sensitive skin take a wipe or wet wash cloth to their skin to wash off any residue of the shaving cream]

Hand Print Flowers

The materials needed are: Construction paper, scissors, tape (or glue), a pen/pencil and if your hand is unsteady as mine is something to trace to make the middle of the flower

[Depending on the age of your child they may or may not be able to do this by themselves]

Have your child pick a color construction paper for the flower petals and put their hand on it to be traced

Trace their hand.
(If your child is as wiggly as mine they won't sit still to trace it more then once so just use the one you get as a stencil)

Cut your stencil out...

and trace it filling the rest of the paper

Trace your circle...

Then....

Draw your flower stem (and a couple leaves if you would like them)

Cut everything out

Have your child pick another color paper to mount the flower on

Tape the stem to the paper

Putting tape on the back of the hand prints flip it over and show your child where to put it down. (Do this all the way around the stem)

Put tape on the back of the middle spot and have your child place it in the center (or as close to it as they can get)

Then push it down to hold everything in place

Then you have a one of a kind flower to display!!

Cream Cheese Play!

Sensory is a key for a child's learning process!!

For this all you need is:
Cream Cheese, and spoons and other things to play with. Wax paper or tin foil makes for easy clean up!

(Letting your child try to open the cream cheese is good for their small motor skills!!)

Open cream cheese

Scoop it out on to your play surface

Let your child explore

Not every child takes to "getting messy" so let them do what they are comfortable with. If you can....

encourage them to use their feet and ..

hands to explore!

Clean up is simple :)
Rinse hand and/or feet off in the shower or sink and roll up the wax paper and put it in the garbage.

Making Breakfast Fun!!

This is a fun way to start off your day!!

All you need is a toasted waffle (or toast), plastic knife, butter/ margarine, food coloring, a bowl to make your  colored butter, a paper plate.

Put your butter in the bowl making sure it is soft enough that you can mix it

Start by spreading the butter out in the bowl

Add a few drops of food coloring to the butter...

Using your plastic knife stir the butter till it is all the same color

Let your child spread the butter on their waffle (or toast) by themselves

This is our creation this morning!!!

We don't like plain butter so I added just a tiny bit of peanut butter but making sure we could still see what she did.
